One factor in transgenetic tomatos is increase in the starch levels and a concomitant reduction in the water content yielding a higher dry weight and cost savings in the processing procedure. The tomato is less seedy and has little or no juice, while the natural tomato as shown on the left is juicy and full of flavor.
