Streets Valparaiso y Concon { 19 images } Created 26 Mar 2011
The coastal city of Valparaiso is not your typical Chilean city. Set high amongst the hills, the cobble stone streets arch and wind high above the shore with spectacular views of the city's large port and colorful houses. The one way streets maze up, passing unique brilliant graffiti that the city is well known for. Steep hostels and cafes are sprawled among the local people's large structured houses. Valparaiso holds one of the country's most important ports and is a culture mecca due to the vast immigrants that settled long ago. Electric funiculars known as 'asensores' still operate in the hills with the first being constructed in 1883. Its picturesque views make it a unique and beautiful place to discover.
