Small towns have their own styles, this one has many. Puerto Natales is the gatway to Torres del Paine, but also a huge fishing industry stands besides the tourism and guiding companies that make up most of the industry here. Beyond the hostal filled centro and many restaurants, the docks of Natales are bringing in some of the finest seafood in the world. The old timers spend months on freezing waters to yield plates served in Japon and Europe. Residents here are proud people, hard working and changing with the seasons that come and go. Not many know the richness that lies in the inlets and fjords beyond Puerto Natales. But here in these fresh salty waters, already there are salmon farms, the purity of these waters will be change with the waiste and by product of these huge industries. The travelers come and go as do the people who come to work the high season. For those that stay on in the colder months, the crisp beautiful winter days are whatever you want it to be.
